Orientation & Job Search Strategies Workshop

This introductory workshop discusses effective job search, skills and abilities, employer expectations developing goals and a plan of action. Sessions are conveniently offered both in the morning, afternoon, and evening during various days of the week. Calendar.

Orientation for Healthcare Professionals Workshop

Designed for internationally educated health professionals, this workshop provides a basic introduction to the facets of working in Canadian healthcare professions. Topics include employer expectations, accreditation requirements, employment prospects, career paths, community resources and sources of further support. Calendar.

NOTE: To participate in any of the additional workshops, you must have attended the Orientation & Job Search Strategies or Orientation for Healthcare Professions workshop.  

How to Information Interview in your Labour Market Sector

Questions such as: What is labour market information? How do I find it? How do I use it? What does it mean to my job search? What is an information interview? are all answered during this session. Topics discussed include labour market trends, using sector information and cold calling to Employers. Calendar.

How to Network

Networking is critical to career success. Most jobs are found through networking yet many of us find networking difficult and uncomfortable. There is a way to become a positive networker specific to your sector. Join us and learn why all positive networkers are successful people and how you can become one of them. Calendar.

Networking and Job Leads

Take one step ahead with the skills you have learned from the “How to Network” session and expand your network. Come hear about industry and service provider events and employment opportunities. This session discusses your job search and what you have discovered about local employers. Learn the tools you need to succeed. Calendar.

Study Methods for Exam Preparation

This workshop has been designed to assist immigrant professionals in preparing for licensing exams, designation examinations, and academic tests. Join us and learn efficient study techniques including learning styles, reading tips, note taking, and memory improvement tips. Calendar.

Successful Work Strategies

Join us for an informative session on employer expectations, negotiation skills in the workplace, and the general rights and responsibilities for both employees and employers. Learn the answers to the most commonly asked questions about the workplace such as: What are the employers’ rights? What are the employee’s rights? What do employers expect? What are employment standards? How do individuals negotiate with the employers? How do employees grow with a company? Calendar.
