Who is the licensing body responsible for Land Agents in Alberta?

What are the registration requirements for Land Agents in Alberta?

Internationally educated Land Agents follow the same application process as Canadian Applicants:

  1. Apply for an Interim Land Agent License to Alberta Labour, Land Agents Licensing.
    1. Enter into a training agreement to work under the supervision of one or more Permanent Land Agent Licensee(s); submit a copy of the training agreement.
    2. Submit copy of official transcripts showing completion of at least two years of post-secondary education related to land agent work.
  2. Pass the interim land agent license exam with a minimum pass mark of 76%.
  3. Complete the Land Agents Licensing Distance Learning Course with a minimum pass mark of 70%.
  4. Complete 12 consecutive months of work under the supervision of a permanent land agent licensee. Your supervisor must submit a performance evaluation recommending that you become a permanent land agent.
  5. Complete the permanent land agent application and submit it with a copy of the Certificate of Completion indicating that you passed the Land Agents Licensing Distance Learning course.
  6. Pass the Permanent land agent license exam with a minimum pass mark of 70%.
  7. A permanent land agent license is renewable every two years provided the licensee has met the renewal qualifications.

What are the accepted English language proficiency tests and where can I be tested?

There are no formal English requirements for Land Agents; however, Land Agents must have a high level of English in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills in order to be successful in the profession.
