Inside the blue line with Liz
"These two years not only helped me to discover what I am capable of but also how resilient I can be.”
Liz, internationally educated business analyst
Shortly after the pandemic began in 2020, Liz arrived in Canada with her family. Liz, a business analyst professional from Mexico with 10 years of experience in customer service, business operations and teaching immediately started looking for work. This was a during a time of health restrictions, a tough labour market and looking for a job in isolation.
In April of 2022, Liz accessed the Directions for Immigrants career services, where she worked one-on-one with a career coach, attended workshops and became a member of the North Star Job Club. In August, Liz successfully landed a position as an office manager for an insurance company in Calgary.
“These two years not only helped me to discover what I am capable of but also how resilient I can be. The job search process was long and had many ups and downs. Simran and all her colleagues were really a key for me to regain my confidence and direct all my efforts in the right direction. Without them I could not have achieved my ultimate goal, which was to get a job,” says Liz.
Our team congratulates Liz on her success and wishes her all the best in her future career in Canada.
