Occupations A to Z
Financial planner
We help internationally educated professionals in any occupation, and in any industry. For this edition of the newsletter, we are highlighting the occupation of financial planners. “Financial planners develop personal financial plans for individuals and families. They analyze clients’ net worth, financial resources, lifestyle preferences, and goals. They suggest ways for clients to achieve their financial goals,” according to ALIS.
In Alberta, there are no educational requirements to work in this occupation, but candidates working towards the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation need a bachelor’s degree. The current demand is considered as “medium” by the Alberta Short-Term Employment forecast cited by ALIS: “In addition to job openings created by employment turnover, 233 new positions are forecasted to be created within this occupational group each year.”
